Location

One of Australia’s premier rainforest experiences, the incredible elevated steel walkway features two gently swaying cantilevered arms and a tower raised nearly fifty meters off the forest floor. Situated 710metres above the sea, the stunning views take in everything from the rainforest canopy to the Royal National Park out over Lake Illawarra and out to the South Pacific Ocean.

The Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk is the only one of its kind in New South Wales and one of only a handful of steel canopy walks in the world. Located just outside the village of Robertson, a trip to the Fly is a perfect day trip.

The gentle walk commences on the rainforest floor and continues onto the steel walkway and into the rainforest canopy (averaging 30m from the forest floor) offering a unique experience that captures the beauty of the regions native fauna and flora.

Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, wheelchair and pram accessible and those with limited mobility can take advantage of the free courtesy cart to get them to and from the steel walkway.

Sunrise Walks take place on the second Saturday of every month, and run for three hours from 6 – 9am, with times varying slightly depending on the time of year. Visitors enjoy a guided walk, sunrise over the ocean and delicious hot buffet breakfast at Cafe 106.

Luyan Sun 1 year ago We had a great experience yesterday at the Illawarra Treetop Walk. It’s our first time to walk on the top and among the rainforest. My kids were getting really excited about the high view. It’s really lovely that all ages and fitness levels can access there because we also had to use a pram for my little ones to save lots of hassle for us.

Wonderful day at the illawarra fly good family day out.The staff are very friendly great service from Andrew amenities were clean, lockers are available to use for free. Food is available and the staff are friendly. When we attended quite a bit of cloud cover however we still had a lovely day watching people on the zip line and walking the trails.

The walk is fantastic and the scenery is amazing

The walk is fantastic and the scenery is amazing. The ages in our group ranged from six to seventy two and we all managed it well. There are mobility pick up points at various spots and rangers also patrol the walk, which is very reassuring in case assistance is required. It has been on our bucket list for a while and can highly recommend it.

Most enjoyable

Most enjoyable, the views are amazing, maybe some drink stations along the way would be good and some more under cover seats near the kiosk. ALso I did not notice any bins along the path.

We had a great couple of hours walking around the tree tops

We had a great couple of hours walking around the tree tops. The walk itself is not strenuous, but if you don't like heights, then it's not for you. The platforms are well built 40m above the ground and you get amazing views from the Blue Mountains to Shell Cove. Well worth the visit.

We have been to the Illawarra Fly on quite a few occasions now and have always had a lovely time

We have been to the Illawarra Fly on quite a few occasions now and have always had a lovely time. We love to take our family who visit from overseas as was this particular Occassion. The weather was kind to us so we had a great view from knights Tower lookout as far as the eye could see, pretty spectacular. Our Grandchildren love to follow the map along the trail and like the experience of the cantilevers movement. Lunch in the cafe was yummy and at a reasonable price, staff were all friendly and polite. New to us this time was the Zipline which we will endeavour to try next visit after watching how much fun was being had. Should also mention the well stocked gift shop, although this time we just opted for the souvenir token. Thouroughly enjoyed are time there.....and will return.

Had a lovely time in the rainforest
Julie Smith 2 years ago

Had a lovely time in the rainforest, it was a cool, misty day so views weren't as clear as a sunny day but we could still see for miles. The walk is relatively easy to do, towering high above the ground. The only disappointing thing was the state of me restrooms, it was early morning but there was no toilet paper in the ladies toilet, quite unacceptable for a tourist destination.

We had an amazing time and experience at the Illawarra Fly Walk

We had an amazing time and experience at the Illawarra Fly Walk. My husband came with me. We just loved the walk into the forest leading up to the Fly. Once on it what amazing views. The Fly Walk was much longer than I expected so that was a bonus. The view from on top of the tower 106 steps up and 106 steps down ( which by the way I counted) was spectacular. I would recommend this to anyone no matter your fitness level. Very easy Walk to do. Thank you

I visited with two overseas guests and two from Sydney
Matthew Martin 2 years ago

I visited with two overseas guests and two from Sydney, total 7(adults). We brought a picnic lunch, thanks for letting us use the cafe outdoor tables, If it was too busy later we saw other tables provided. They all enjoyed the experience of being up at Treetop level with spectacular views, cooled by passing cloudy ethereal whisps. Looking down on the ferns was something surprising; the symmetrical mandala like patterns all unique. Also a little movement at either end of the walk felt a bit like a huge seesaw, but not too much that one would feel unsafe. We felt unhurried which was good to be still and observe birdlife..., though luckily there was only a handful of people around, if there were lots may have been differnt. Perhaps next time the flying fox, for a more exciting experience...!
